Harold J. Kircher, 85, of Decatur, IL passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 19, 2018 with his family by his side.
A service to honor and celebrate Harold’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Harold will be laid to rest next to his wife at Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be directed to First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Harold was born on March 19, 1933 in Strasburg, IL the youngest son of Louise (Lading) Kircher and Christian Kircher. After graduating from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in 1951 he met and married Nancy Clark on July 28, 1956 and they were married for 60 years. He worked many years for General Electric and retired from Caterpillar. Harold was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a founding member, and served as president of AMELCA food pantry. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed sharing his catch with his family and friends. In the last several years Harold was a loving companion and dedicated caretaker for his wife Nancy.
Harold is survived by his children: Linda Lloyd (Ron Greenwald) of San Diego, CA, Lisa Prestinario (Joe) of Naperville, IL and David Kircher (Catherine) of Orland Park, IL; grandchildren: Michael, Jessica, Amy, Matthew and Timothy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, and siblings: Louis Kircher, Donald Kircher and Emogene Adkins.
