Theodora "Rae" Gale Saltzgiver

Theodora “Rae” Gale Saltzgiver, 92, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away April 18, 2018 at River Bluff Nursing Home. Born December 16, 1925 in Rockford; she was the daughter of Cornell and Vera (Dickinson) Gale.

She married Clyde A. Saltzgiver on June 23, 1945 in Rockford. Rae was a member of Burritt Community Church, Winnebago Chapter of the Eastern Star and Burritt Grange.

She was a 4H Leader for more than 40 years and ran concessions at Auburn High School for many years. As a seamstress, Rae was self-employed and worked for many of the area businesses and associations for many years.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing, listening to music, sewing, cooking for her family, friends and extended family; and most of all spending time with her family.

Survivors include: children, Mary Ann Petersen, Gale (Cindi) Saltzgiver, Sarah (Stephan) Skridla, Paul (Jennie) Saltzgiver and Cynthia (Michael) Carlson; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Rae was preceded in death by: husband; parents; granddaughter, Kristin Safran; sisters, Eleanor Knoll and Melva Laurberg; and son-in-law, Peter Petersen.

Services will be held on Sunday, February 22, at Burritt Community Church.
