Harold Ray Cline , 78, Blue Springs, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Cline was born April 23, 1923, in Adrian, Mo., the son of Lewis Earl and Zella Cline . In 1932, he and his family moved to California, where he lived until returning to this area in 1988. He had been a meat department manager for Albertson's, retiring in 1977. Previously, he worked for Safeway grocery stores for many years and was a member of Butcher's Union Local 506.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a Pearl Harbor survivor and was able to return to Pearl Harbor for the 60th anniversary of the attack. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, USS Ward Chapter II.

He was a former pastor of the Community of Christ church in Monterey, Calif. He had cooked for numerous youth camps and church reunions for many years. He had also been a counselor for the Boy Scouts and enjoyed making homemade whole wheat bread for his friends.

His survivors include his wife of 55 years, Vera Cline , of the home; three sons, David Harold Cline and wife, Susan, Gaitherburg, Md., Donald Paul Cline and wife, Sheri, Salinas, Calif., and William Douglas Cline , Norfolk, Va.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cassandra Lynn and Richard Scott, Independence, and Joyce Elaine and Dan Lunsford, Nampa, Ind.; three brothers, Vernon Cline , Oklahoma, Lloyd Cline , Oregon, and Paul Cline , Arizona; four sisters, Lucille Engel, Arizona, Mary Renfroe and Ruth Brown, both of California, and Dorothy Burdick, Independence; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Blue Springs Branch, 5555 Valley View Road. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. The family suggests contributions to the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 709 W. Maple Ave., Independence, Mo. 64050.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Speaks Suburban Chapel.
