Mr. Raymond Robert Thompson, age 90 of Summerville, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Thompson was born in Section, Alabama on March 14, 1928, son of the late William Con Thompson and Lena Baugh Thompson. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps. Reserves. He was a member of the Trion Heights Baptist Church and was retired from Bigelow-Sanford. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera Petitt Thompson; grandson, Jeremy Thompson and a brother, James Thompson.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Joyce Bean Thompson; sons and daughters-in-law, Dewayne and Patty Thompson of Ft. Payne and Randy and Susan Thompson of Canton; step-son and daughter-in-law, David and Doreen Bean of Dalton, brother and sister-in-law, Verlon and Montyne Thompson, Summerville; grandchildren, Melissa(David) Riddle, Meredith(Jonathan) Carter, and Jason(Amy) Thompson; step granddaughter, Kira Bean(James) Austin; 7 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Thompson will be held Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Johnson and Rev. Thomas Seay officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Thompson, Tony Thompson, Kenny Thompson, Jason Thompson, David Riddle, Jonathan Carter, Bobby Thompson and Sammy Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Mens SS Class of Trion Heights Baptist Church.

Mr. Thompson will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence.
