Mrs. Alstat, born in Franklin, NC; was the daughter of the late, Lyman and Myrtle Vinson Ballew and the widow of William Alstat who she married in 1947. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy, sister, Ann Lou "Toots" Baty; two brothers, 2year old Bryan and Wayne Ballew.
She moved to Michagan in the early 1940's where he worked as a telephone operator. She and her husband made their home in the Pontiac, Michigan area where they raised their two children, Dale Na d Kathy. After retirement the made their home near her childhood home in the Tessentee community in Otto, NC. After her husband Bill passed away in 2005, she later moved to Traverse City, MI near her daughter until her passing.
She is survived by her son Dale Alstat (Beverly) of Decorah, Iowa; daughter, Kathy Ywardowski (Gary) of Traverse City, MI; 5 grandsons; 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Joe Ballew (Pat); sister, Mary Keener (Gerald), a nephew an several nieces.
