Althea Rose Robertson Carone, 76, Sarasota, died Jan. 3, 1998.
She was born April 12, 1921, in Fairland, Ill., and came to Sarasota more than 40 years ago from there. She retired after 30 years as the employment manager for Sarasota Memorial Hospital where she founded the personnel department. A graduate of Illinois Business College in Urbana, Ill., she was a member of Order of the Eastern Star in Sarasota, Showfolks of Sarasota and Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Sari-1, Court 79.
Survivors include two sons, Eric L. Griffin of Lakeville, Mass., and Capt. Bruce R. Hood of Sarasota; two sisters, Georgia Easton of Longview, Ill., and Garcia Robertson of Sarasota; a brother, Glen Robertson of Sarasota; and a grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel. The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Sarasota Memorial Park.
