John Robert Gilbert Sr, 61, of Stockbridge, died Saturday in an Atlanta private hospital.
He was employed by the State Farmers Market.
Mr Gilbert was born in Stockbridge and spent his whole life there. He was a member of the Stockbridge Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Monday at 3 pm in the First Baptist Church of Stockbridge, the Rev Joe Parham and the Rev Harry Wooten Jr officiating. Burial will be in the Stockbridge City Cemetery.
He is survived by his wie; three sons, John R Gilbert Jr and Charles H Gilbert, both of Atlanta, and Louie E Gilbert, North Carolina; a daughter, Mrs Louise Cleghorn, Atlanta; three brothers, Marcus Gilbert, Barnesville, and Dwight Gilbert, Atlanta, and four sisters, Mrs G S Lewis, Mrs B B Lewis, Mrs Henry Strickland and Mrs Roy Baker, all of Atlanta.
