Mrs. Blanche Lee Ella Atkins Brintle, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, April 14, 2018, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Brintle was born March 31, 1935, in Surry County, the younger of two daughters born to the late James Monroe and Lena Marion Atkins. Blanche retired from Spencer’s Inc. after many years of service and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Bynum Brintle, Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Kenny Nowlin of Mount Airy; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Dwight and Dena Brintle, Rick and Laura Brintle, and Sherri Brintle, all of Mount Airy; eleven grandchildren, Drew Nowlin, Kasey Nowlin Meadows, Clay Nowlin, Milissa Brintle Hill, Tiffany Brintle, Zach Brintle, Chase Brintle, Maleigha Brintle, Justin Brintle, Chelsey Brintle, and Amber Carter; and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brintle was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Charles Brintle; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Hope Brintle; and a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia Irene and Billy E.B. Campbell. A service of worship and celebration of Blanche’s life will be held Monday, April 16, 2018, at 4:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 2:30 until 4:00 PM at the church. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the Skilled Nursing Staff at Northern Hospital of Surry County. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1022, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
