A. John Gaige, 83, passed away on September 20, 2010 of natural causes.

He was born March 1, 1927 in Boston, MA the oldest of five children of John & Esther Gaige of Melrose, MA.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps at 17 after convincing the recruiter he was 18 and flew in B-24 bombers during WWII. While stationed at Gowen Field, he met Neta E. Laing of Meridian. Upon being discharged in 1946 he returned to Boise to be near Neta and they married in 1947. He then obtained a degree in engineering from Boise Junior College and Oregon State.

He served in the Idaho state legislature in the mid 60's, was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, and was a 58 year member of the Masonic fraternity. He worked for Idaho Power & Gate City Steel and founded A. J. Gaige & Associates and Gaige Aviation.

John was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert, and a son, Gerald.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years; sons Gary (Brigetta) and Bob (Kim Parlock); and daughter Susan (David) Fuller, all of the Treasurer Valley; sisters Marie (Robert) Sheldon of Arkansas, Arlene (Bill) Spencer of Virginia; and a brother, Richard (Cathy) of Maryland; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

At his request there will be no traditional service. Masonic last rites will take place at Placer Masonic Lodge in Horseshoe Bend at 11:00 on October 9, 2010.

Friends and lodge members are welcome to join the family.
