Robert O. Ernest, 96, of Schaumburg, IL, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 7:05 a.m. at Lutheran Home, Arlington Heights, IL. Private family services will be held. Military rites will be accorded. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL.
Mr. Ernest was born on December 23, 1921 to the late Robert B. and Alfa (Davis) Ernest.
He was a graduate of Decatur High School, Decatur, IL, earned a BA from Millikin University, Decatur, IL; and earned a BFA from University of Illinois, Champaign, IL. He worked in industrial design at Sunbeam Corporation. Mr. Ernest served in the Air Corp, working on radar, during World War II. He married Elizabeth Anne Attebery on September 2, 1946 in Hillsboro, IL and she preceded him on October 4, 2007.
Mr. Ernest is survived by three children, Dorothy (husband Larry) Cleys of Schaumburg, IL, Robert "Bob" C. (wife Teresa) Ernest of Clarendon Hills, IL, and Pamela (husband Burt) Gutterman of Glencoe, IL; eight grandchildren, Ryan Cleys, Lindsey Cleys, Robert A. Ernest, Elizabeth M. Ernest, Benjamin Ernest, Lauren Gutterman, Karyn Gutterman Constantinides, and Morgan Gutterman; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ernest was also preceded in death by one brother, Loren E Ernest.
