Lt. Christopher Garner Agee, Nephew of Kay Garner, this city, killed in Plane Crash in North Africa
Lt. Christopher Garner Agee, of Memphis, nephew of J.K. Garner, this city, was killed in a plane crash in the African theater, Jan 30, relatives have been advised,, Lt. Agee was stationed at GASF as instructor and lived here for six months prior to his assignment overseas. He was pilot of a Liberator and had been overseas only a few days. Born in Helen,a Ark., Lt. Agee moved to Memphis as a boy. After graduating from Central High he attended University of Tennessee, Washington University and Texas A. & M. Besides his wife, Mrs. June Tann Agee of Memphis, he is survived by his father, Polk W. Agee, Memphis architect; his mother, Mrs. Alma Knowlton and two brothers, Ensign Polk Agee, Jr., stationed at Boston and Robert Agee Memphis.

Final rites for Lt. C.G. Agee
Funeral services will be held at National Funeral Home in Memphis Friday morning for 1st Lt. Christopher G. (Sonny) Agee, nephew of Mr. J.K. Garner of Greenwood. Lt. Agee, who was an instructor at the Greenwood Army Air Field was killed at Dakar, Africa, in January of 1944.Husband of June T. Agee who resided in Memphis, Tennessee.

Christopher served as a First Lieutenant & Pilot on B-24 #41-28663, 747th Bomber Squadron, 456th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Shelby County, Tennessee prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 6, 1942 in Jackson, Mississippi. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Draftsmen and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24 #41-28663 took off from the United States to Italy. They stopped at Eknes Field, Senegal and fueled up their B-24. During takeoff they crashed for an unknown reason during the war.

Christopher died in the "Line Of Duty" in this crash.

Service # O-792942

He is interred somewhere in Tennessee.
