Boyd Arthur Knighton, 74, of Stanley, died on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Inova Fairfax in Falls Church.

He was born on April 9, 1943, in Shenandoah and was a son of the late James Woodrow Knighton and Helen Frances Plumb Knighton.

Mr. Knighton had worked at the Virginia Oak Tannery.

On June 16, 1961, he married Nancy Louise Purdham Knighton, who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Timothy

G. Knighton of Stanley; three brothers, Frederick W. and Donnie Knighton, both of Shenandoah, and Robert

W. Knighton of Charlottesville; a sister, Rebecca Hailey of Sumter, S.C.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Knighton; and a sister, Clara "Cindy" Reule.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Bradley Funeral Home.
