Eugene George Sagan, 90, of Dunmore, died Monday morning at home. His wife, the former Agnes Anna Popso, died in 2013. The couple had been married for 59 years.

Born in Dunmore, son of the late Peter and Helen Serra Sagan, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School and attended the University of Scranton. He was a United States Army veteran and served during the Korean War. Before retirement, he worked for the Erie Lacka-wanna/Conrail Railroad as a conductor.

He was a devout member of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, Dunmore, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the former Naphin Hill Club. In his retirement years, he took pride in his crossing guard duties and was an avid Dunmore Bucks fan. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's sporting events. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are daughters, Maryann Sylvester and husband, Neil, Jessup; Suzanne Capoocia, Throop; Lisa Walsh and husband, James; and Dolores Capoocia and husband, Michael, all of Dunmore; sons, Leo, Throop; Michael and wife, Patti, Gaithersburg, Md.; and Eugene, Throop; grandchildren, Sean Joseph Rist and fiancé, Rob Fleming; Frank Capoocia and fiancée, Erica Summa; Nicole Piercy and husband, Michael; Nicholas Capoocia and wife, Amy; Rachel and Joseph Capoocia; Kelly and James Walsh; Michelle and Marie Sagan; Ryan Sylvester and wife, Melissa; and Marla Decker and husband, Rob; great-grandchildren, Nora, Michael, Rob Jr., Olivia, Rocco, Aidyn and Natalie; brothers, Peter and wife, Shirley, Dalton; and Thomas and wife, Helen, Dunmore; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Theodore, Albert and Richard; and a grandson, Kyle Sylvester.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, 511 E. Drinker St., Dunmore. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery, Dunmore.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. with rosary at 4 and Parastas at 7:30.
