Jimmy was retired from Alcoa after 32 years of service and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He loved going to Vegas and watching the Astro’s. His passion for baseball was so strong that he coached Little League for 8 years. He was a tough Coach but everyone on his team respected him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Starling Garner; parents; sisters, Katherine Johnson, Peggy Griggs, Judy Garner, Nancy Garner and brothers, John Garner “Sonny” Jr., Bobby Garner and Gene Garner.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday, April 13, 2019 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Port Lavaca with Pastor Danielle Knapp officiating. Burial with military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard will follow in Port Lavaca Cemetery.
