Betty Ann Marron, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Richland on Jan. 30, 2014. She was born to Thomas and Bertha Humphreys on April 1, 1926, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Betty Ann was raised in Detroit, before going to college at Western Michigan and Michigan State University to become a teacher. She taught in Michigan, including at a one-room school, before moving to Florida to go to the University of Miami. While teaching there, Betty Ann met John Marron at a faculty meeting and they married on Dec. 21, 1959. From Florida, they moved to Illinois, California, and then to Richland, Washington, while raising their 3 sons and a daughter. Betty Ann was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law. She had many interests, including travel, playing bridge, painting, drawing and cooking. Betty Ann taught art and participated in the shows through Allied Arts Gallery. Throughout the years she also wrote many poems to honor people. She was a charter member of Meadow Springs Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School there for years. Betty Ann loved spending time with her family and friends, always ready to host a dinner, go on a picnic or go on a trip. The last few years they lived at Riverton Retirement and made many friends there. Betty Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Bob and Thomas and her husband John. She is survived by her son William and his wife Shelley of Peshastin, WA, son Ron and his wife Nydia of Stamford, CT, son Henry and his wife Monique of Richland, WA, and daughter Katharine of Kennewick, WA; 9 grandchildren, Emily, Heather, Isaiah, Zechariah, Daniel, Elijah, Johnny, Hannah, and Julia and a great-granddaughter, Grace. A memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Center, 9353 W. Clearwater Ave., Kennewick, on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. The burial will be private.
