Moses Hoglin/Hoagland was born 15 February 1770, in Bullitt County, Kentucky; son of Henry Hoagland & Jemima Newkirk, and died 9 May 1851 in Vernon Township, Jackson County, Indiana.

He moved to this County in the spring of 1790 and purchased a farm east of Bardstown, where he has resided for several years.

May have served in Johnson's Regiment, Mounted, Kentucky Volunteers or Dubois' Battalion Mounted Spies, Kentucky Volunteers in the War of 1812. Enlisted as a private.

Moses Hoagland, an old and respected citizen passed away. His live ended as he had lived quietly and peacefully. The deceased was a member of the Christian church and has been an active and faithful members for over fifty years. He has lived the full measure of years allotted him, being 81 years.

Bardstown Junction in Bullitt County has what was once called the most noted section of the state in pioneer times. Its heart was known as Bullitt’s Lick, and its claim to fame was salt.
