West Frankfort - Roy Gene Avery, 69, of 116 N Benton Rd, died at 12:05am Tuesday, July 28, 1998 in Union Hospital in West Frankfort. Burial in Denning Cemetery.

Mr Avery was a retired Coal Miner and Veteran of the US Army.

He attended St Paul's Lutheran Church. He was a member and past Commander of the Philip Whiteside American Legion Post 1961 in Orient, a member of the Elks Lodge and Moose Club, both in West Frankfort.

He was born Feb 17, 1929 in West Frankfort to Marion and Velda (Grant) Avery.

He married Joyce Fishburn Glenn on Dec 23, 1995 in West Frankfort. She survives.
