John Jacobitz, age 68, of Columbus, died Saturday, April 7, 2018 at his home.

A funeral service is being held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 12, at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Family will receive friends from noon through service time. Interment is being held at Roselawn Cemetery in Columbus.

John M. Jacobitz was born Nov. 24, 1949 in Superior, Nebraska to Melvin and Justine ( Bricka) Jacobitz. He graduated from Columbus High in 1967. John served in the United States Army in the 313th Military Police from 1970-1976. He worked at Becton-Dickenson over 20 years. He was united in marriage to Jayne "Choda" Kotrous on August 30, 1986 in Verdigre, Nebraska

John is survived by his sister,Becky (Richard) Ebert of Saronville, nieces Jennifer (Jim) Klein of Lincoln and Kari (Aaron) Honor of Bakersfield, Calif.; nephew Mike (Susan) Ebert of Phoenix, numerous sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws and his beloved dog, Lucy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jayne Ann Jacobitz.
