MRS RETHERFORD OF NEAR JOY IS TAKEN BY DEATH
JOY - Mrs Leo Retherford, of near Joy, died at her home at 6:30 last night following a lengthy illness.
The body was taken to the Olin Funeral Home in Joy and services will be held at 2 Friday afternoon in the Joy Methodist Church. The Rev Caleb Larson, Grandview, Iowa, will officate. He will be assisted by the Rev Samuel Parker, pastor. Burial will be in Peniel Cemetery near Joy.
Mrs Retherford, the former Mina Ethel Crabtree, daughter of the late Mr & Mrs Charles Crabtree, was born Feb 17, 1894 near Illinois City where she was educated.
She was first married to Chris Krueger of Illinois City who died in 1934. She later was married to Mr Retherford Dec 24, 1937 in Grandview, Iowa. She had resided on a farm near Joy since that date.
She was a member of the Illinois City Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors camp.
Surviving are the widower; a son, Carroll Krueger, Joy; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL SERVICE FRIDAY FOR MRS LEO RETHERFORD
Mrs Leo Retherford of Joy died Tuesday, July 2, 1957, at about 6:30 p.m. in her home. She was born Feb 17, 1894 in Illinois City, the daughter of Charles & Elizabeth Crabtree. She was first married to Cliff Krueger and later married to Mr Retherford in 1937, living her entire married life in Mercer county. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors.
Survivors include the widower, a son, Carroll Krueger, ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs Agnes Crawford.
Funeral services will be held in the Joy Methodist church on Friday at 2 p.m., with the Rev Caleb Larson of Grandview, Iowa, in charge, assisted by Rev Sam Parker of Joy. The body is at rest in the Olin Funeral home in Joy.
