Deneen C. VanFleet, age 50, of East Galesburg, Illinois, passed away with her family by her side Friday, December 5, 2014 at 9:38 P.M. at the OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.

Deneen was born on February, 11, 1964 in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Patricia Gentes and Jerald Bailey. She graduated with the class of 1982 from Knoxville High School and then graduated from the Carl Sandburg College Nursing Program in 1985. She married Jeffrey VanFleet on June 24, 1989 in Knoxville, Illinois.

After college, she began working for OSF St. Mary Medical Center as a Registered Nurse. She truly was passionate about helping as many people as she could. Deneen was well respected by her peers for her compassion and dedication. One of her favorite accomplishments was being a contributing member for developing C.O.P.S (Center for Out Patient Services) for the hospital. She served the OSF St. Mary Medical Center for over 28 years.

Besides her passion for being a Nurse, Deneen was also an avid reader, fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears. She enjoyed spending time with her mother at casinos and was active in her boys' sports and activities.

Deneen is survived by her husband, Jeffrey VanFleet of East Galesburg, Illinois, two sons; Joshua VanFleet of East Galesburg, Illinois, Jonathan (and Brittany) VanFleet of East Galesburg, Illinois, granddaughter; Lily VanFleet, mother; Patricia (and Max) Hughs of Galesburg, Illinois, father; Jerald (and Karen) Bailey of Knoxville, Illinois, seven brothers and sisters; Dennis (Ginnie) Bailey of Knoxville, Dean (and Melissa) Bailey of Knoxville, Dawn (and Roy) Creek of Galesburg, Joe Bailey of Alexis, Tara Bailey of Knoxville, J.D. Bailey of East Galesburg, and Kimberly VanBeveran of Knoxville. She is also survived by one niece and numerous nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the OSF St. Mary Medical Center Cancer Unit. Online condolences may be left at www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com.
