Betyjo "Momajo" Monroe, 83, was born in Central City, KY June 16, 1934. She was a resident of Louisville, KY and most currently resided in Ekron, KY. Betyjo passed away peacefully on April 3, 2018 at her home in Ekron with her family by her side. Betyjo retired from Jefferson County School Board and Ayrway Stores. She was a 25 year member of Okolona Women's Club, a member of Eastern Star #116 Purity Chapter, a member of Jefferson Co. Democratic Women's Club, Past treasurer of the 45th District Democratic Club, a Kentucky Colonel, and was a member of Buck Grove Baptist Church in Ekron, KY.

Betyjo was preceded in death by her parents, Ransom and Bessie Moore, a newborn daughter, Nona Sue; her grandson, Daniel "DannyBoy" Kinney Jr. , and her in-laws, Bill and Bessie Monroe.

Left to cherish Betyjo's memory is her loving husband of 67 years, Joe Monroe; children, Joe Monroe Jr. (Barbara) of Ekron, KY, Debbie Kinney (Danny) of Mt. Washington, Ransom "Red" Monroe (Shannon) of Mt. Washington, Diane Connelly (Mark) of Lebanon Junction, KY; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

The Purity Chapter Eastern Star Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. the day of Funeral Service. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Evergreen Dignity Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The visitation on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
