Benny E. Witt – 83, went to Heaven to be with the Good Lord, as he fondly referred to Him, on Saturday, March 31, 2018, in New York. Benny proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Originally a Tennessee native, he spent his professional life working in industrial sales retiring from Cross Instrumentation. He was married to the love of his life of over 47 years, Mrs. Norma Jean Kelley Witt. Benny was a member of Clear Springs Baptist Church. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, emotional strength and unending empathy toward animals. Benny was also a loving and caring father, brother and friend to all who knew him. He immensely enjoyed spending time in nature feeding wildlife and tending to flowers. He was an avid gardener, bird enthusiast and cat aficionado. He is survived by his only daughter, Deborah D. Witt-Jackson and son-in-law, William B. Jackson, Jr.; brother, Harold Witt and wife, Barbara; sister, Edna Williams; sisters-in-law, Brenda Witt, Beverly Derringer, Pauline Dixon, Lenora Hayes and Sheila Kelley; brother-in-law, Kenny Patterson. Benny was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Norma Jean Kelley Witt; parents, Ralph and Lilly Williams Witt; brothers, Billy A., John and Bobby R. Witt; sisters, Ethel Vineyard and Mary Acuff; sisters-in-law, Eliza Jane Patterson, Rachel and Patricia Witt; brothers-in-law, Luther, Ruben, Ansel and Billy Dean Kelley, John Dixon, John Acuff, Curtis Williams and Delmar Vineyard. Family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, April 6, 2018, at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, Knoxville, TN 37924. Family and friends will meet 9:45 AM Saturday at Little Valley Cemetery for a 10:00 AM graveside service with Pastor Henry Greer officiating. Full military honors will be provided by East TN Veteran Honor Guard.
