Cecil Ray Wafer, Sr. was born to May Alice, and Thomas Wafer in Palmer on October 27, 1936. He was a lifelong resident of Ellis County left us on March 31, 2018 to be met with love by his parents, multiple siblings, and many friends, previous spouses as well as his precious granddaughter, Shelley Nance. Cecil, known by many as “Red” worked as a ranch hand for his young adult life, he was employed with Tyler Refrigeration in Waxahachie for 19 years. Along with help from his children and wife Norma, he cut firewood and hay to supplement their income. He was well known during the ice storm of 1978 that lasted almost a week when he was one of the few able to navigate the ice-covered roads to deliver firewood. He instilled the love of fishing into most all his children and grandchildren. It was a toss-up on which was his passion- fishing or Blue Bell Vanilla Ice Cream which he would enjoy almost daily.
