Mrs. Hilliards was born March 7, 1905, at Eastern Shore and was a daughter of the late Lloyd A. and Rebecca West Joynes.
She attended elementary school and high school at Eastern Shore, and college at William and Mary and Madison College, now James Madison University. She taught in Page County 45 years and retired in June 1970. Mrs. Hilliards was a member of the Stanley Baptist Church, the Retired Teachers Association and the Page Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
On September 29, 1928, she married Raymond J. Hilliards, who died February 4, 1963.
Surviving are two sisters, Harriett Boole, Salisbury, Md., and Ruth Brenner, Pocomoke City, Md., and two step granddaughters.
Dr. Larry B. Patton will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray. Burial will be in Leake's Chapel Cemetery in Stanley.
