Elizabeth was the daughter of John and Margaret O'Neil Magee. She was baptized on March 11, 1860, at Loughgall and Tartaraghan, Armagh, Ireland.

Elizabeth Magee, age 20, of 36 Bridge Street, Partick, Scotland, married James Ray (Rae), age 20, blacksmith of 79 Victoria Street, Govan, (son of Michael and Catherine McHale Ray) on July 17, 1882, at St. Peter's Chapel, Partick, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Her husband James died between 1898-1900.

Elizabeth and son John Rae immigrated and arrived in New York on the Ship Baltic on November 12, 1920. Their destination was Eckart and daughter Mary Rae Devlin.
