Earnest "Ernie" Daughety, Jr., 92, passed away March 31, 2018 in Glen Rose. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2018 in Squaw Creek Cemetery.
Ernie was born March 22, 1926 in Sherman, Texas to Earnest Lee and Gladys Helton Daughety. He married Gladys Sloan on April 19, 1958 in Fort Worth. He served in the U.S. Army and was a quality assurance specialist for the Department of Defense. He enjoyed traveling with Gladys, picnics with family, visits and vacations to the family ranch in New Mexico, state fairs and fishing. Ernie could fix anything for anyone and was very mechanical. He was one of the original four Dairy Queen coffee drinkers and served on the Glen Rose City Council.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Gladys on May 16, 2014; sister Billie Jo Ussery; brothers-in-law L.E. Sloan, Robert Smith and Loyd Ussery; and niece Becky Ussery Smith.
Survivors: Children, Colleen Daughety, Patty Snodgrass and husband Kelley and Sharon Williams; grandchildren, Sloan, Kas, Dakotah and Caleb; great granddaughter Dixie; sister, Virginia Smith; sister-in-law, Barbara Sloan; three nephews, two nieces and many other extended family and friends.
