Alfred J. Graybeal, 62, died Monday, April 9, 2007, at his home. He was the husband of Margaret A. (Allen) Graybeal. The funeral service will begin at10:30 a.m. Saturday at Centre Presbyterian Church, 83 New Park Road, New Park with the Rev. James L. Biller officiating. There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown. Interment will be in Centre Presbyterian Cemetery. Born November 1, 1944, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of Nellie (Hathaway) Graybeal of Bel Air, Md. and the late Wiley J. Graybeal. Al was a longtime member of Centre Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, trustee, Sunday school teacher and on many church committees. Al especially loved singing in the church choir. He was on the board of trustees of MasonDixon Public Library in Stewartstown and was one of the original directors for South Eastern Dollars for Scholars. He was a member of Friendship Masonic F & AM Lodge No. 663, Fawn Grove. Al was also an official NOAA weather observer in the New Park area for many years. He was an educator in South Eastern School District and taught sixth grade at Fawn Area Elementary School. In 1974, he became the first guidance counselor for the new South Eastern Middle School and later became the Kennard Dale High School guidance counselor from 1989 until his retirement in 2004. In addition to his wife and mother, Al is survived by two sons, Andrew Graybeal and his wife, Tracy of Hesperus, Colo., and Benjamin Graybeal and his wife, Christy of Boyds, Md.; one daughter, Laura Kelly and her husband, Jim of Milmont Park; two grandchildren, Sean Patrick Kelly and Evalyn Mary Graybeal; and two additional grandchildren "on the way"; a sister, Charlotte Roberts and her husband, Larry of Jarrettsville, Md.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant brother, Wayne Graybeal.
