Funeral services for Charles Elma Wood, 77, Amity, will be held at 2 p.m. July 11 at Scott's Funeral Chapel, McMinnville, followed by interment at Evergreen Memorial Park.

Mr. Wood was born at Amity Sept. 23, 1881, and died July 8, 1959. He was son of John and Dulcenia Wood who crossed the plains in the Big Missouri wagon train and settled on a farm five miles east of Amity.

Mr. Wood received his education at Fairview grade school. On Dec. 9, 1901, he married Jessie Hay Helton at Amity. He farmed until 1935 when he sold his farm and was then employed by the state highway department and Tillamook Amity Co-op. He retired in 1952.

He was a 25-year member of the Odd Fellows, receiving his jewel pin last May. He also belonged to Neighbors of Woodcraft for 23 years. He was a great baseball enthusiast and an avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1954 and is survived by two sons, Elmer and Ralph; daughters, Elma Nason, Hazel Burch and Lois Wood, all of Amity, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
