N. Kathleen Martin, 87, Shelton, Wash., formerly of Denison, died Jan. 23, 2007, in Olympia, Wash., of natural causes. She was born March 29, 1919, in Holton, the daughter of Ray Louis and Julia Eckert Hinman. She graduated from Denison High School. Mrs. Martin lived all her married life in Denison, where she was a homemaker, 4-H leader and school cook for several years. After her husband died, she moved to Silver Lake to be closer to a daughter, and she worked as a clerk for the Kansas Corporation Commission until she retired. She then moved to Shelton, Wash., where she lived with another daughter. She married Wilbur "Bill" Martin in 1938 in Holton. He died in 1976. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Sims, in 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Leann Froehlich and husband Darald, Shelton, Wash.; a sister, Mary Bell and husband Ralph, Oroville, Calif.; a grandson, Jay Sims and wife Tracey, Holton; and two great-grandchildren, Evan Sims and Jacob Sims, both of Holton. No services are scheduled at this time. Inurnment will be held in Kansas at a later date. McComb Funeral Home of Shelton, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
