Alice and her beloved husband of 61 years, John F. Matsen, Sr. lived in White Plains, New York before retiring to Alpharetta, Georgia. She had recently moved to the Augusta area to be closer to her daughter, Elizabeth. Alice was born and raised in the Bronx, New York and attended Saint Barnabas High School. Alice received both a Bachelor's degree in Education and Master's degree in Special Education from Hunter College and her last teaching position was at Resurrection School in Rye, New York. Alice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She remembered and celebrated every birthday, anniversary or life event with a card and personal note.
She is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Jane Fox Lipschultz and Evelyn Caudill.
A funeral mass will be held at 12pm noon on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 535 Rucker Road, Alpharetta, Georgia, 30004. In lieu of flowers, consider a contribution to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
