She was born July 1, 1922, in Livingston, TN, and was the last of 11 children of Henry and Martha Moore of Overton County, TN, where she grew up. In her early years, she attended Livingston Academy. Edith was a sales representative and later a sales manager for World Book Encyclopedia for Cumberland County and several surrounding counties.
She is survived by her son, Michael Smith and wife Susan Rayl of Indianapolis, IN; daughter-in-law, Dortha Smith of Elizabethton, TN; granddaughter, Jenna Smith and husband Ragnar Stroberg of Portland, OR; grandson, Taylor Smith of Terre Haute, IN; special granddaughter, Kimberly Roberts and husband Jerry of Rockwood, TN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford J. Smith, who taught vocational agriculture at Cumberland County High School until his retirement in the late '70s; son, Fred Smith; brothers, Robert Moore and Haskell Moore; sister, Ruby Moore; and seven other siblings who were either stillborn or passed away at birth.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Bilbrey Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m.
