Mr. Louis McLane, uncle of the late Mayor Robert M. McLane and brother of the late Robert M. McLane, ex-Governor of Maryland and ex-Minister to France, died yesterday morning at 9.30 o'clock at his residence, 1101 North Charles street. While Mr. McLane had been ill since October, 1901, when he suffered a stroke of paralysis, his death was, nevertheless, unexpected. Death was due to a general breaking down of the system.

The funeral will take place at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning from Christ Protestant Episcopal Church, St. Paul and Chase streets. The services will be conducted by Rev. Edwin B. Niver, the rector. Interment will be in the family lot in Greenmount Cemetery. ... Undertakers Henry W. Jenkins & Sons will have charge of the arrangements.

Besides his widow, seven children survive him. They are Miss Katherine M. McLane, Louis McLane, Jr., Miss Sophie M. McLane, Miss Elizabeth Curzon McLane, Mrs. Emily McLane Merryman, wife of Mr. E. Gittings Merryman, of Cockeysville, Mrs. Sally McLane Fisher, wife of Mr. D. K. Este Fisher, and Mr. Charles E. McLane, assistant secretary and treasurer of the Mercantile Trust and Deposit Company.

He is also survived by a brother, Mr. James L. McLane, president of the National Bank of Baltimore, and his nephews are Mr. Allen McLane, receiver for he Maryland Trust Company, and Dr. Louis McLane Tiffany. He was a brother-in-law of Gen. Joseph E. Johnson, of the Confederate Army, who married his sister, and of Mr. Curzon Hoffman, whose sister he married.

He was born in Wilmington, Del., on January 20, 1819, being the son of Louis McLane, who was at one time minister to England, secretary of state in President Jackson's cabinet and later president of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He was the grandson of Col. Allan McLane, of the Continental Army. ... entered the United States Navy.

... He had just been married to Miss Sophie L. Hoffman, daughter of Samuel Hoffman ... 1849 San Francisco California ... Wells Fargo ... elected president. ...
