A. Christine Carroll Canter, 77, of Sullivan Gardens Community died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at LifeCare Center of Gray after an extended illness.

Born in Sullivan County, where she resided all of her life, she retired from Sullivan County in 2003 after 36 years in food service. She was a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church in Gray. Christine was a yard sale addict and an avid fisherwoman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Canter; parents, William and Amanda Stapleton; sisters, Norma Tomlinson, Ivalene Howard and Fleta Johnson; and brother, Paul Stapleton.

Christine is survived by her son, Frankie Carroll of Kingsport; grandchildren, Jessica and Sydney Carroll; great-grandson, Silas Beasley; several nieces and nephews; and special cousin, Pat Lawson of Jonesborough.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 12-2:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Dr. Gene Lasley officiating. The burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens with Dr. Gary Seaman officiating. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
