John Robert "Johnny" Goodman, 79, of Linden, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018. He was born Dec. 23, 1938, in Linden, to Robert Lawrence and Maggie Jo Hays-Goodman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Alice, who died in 2003.
At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Paris, France. He was honorably discharged after five years of service. Following his years in the military, he was employed by Aviall, Inc. in Dallas, where he worked for more than 42 years, until his retirement in 2003, when he returned to his home in Linden.
He loved Linden and his many cousins and friends. When he heard about anyone needing help or that a friend or relative had passed., he was quick to contribute or donate in their name to the Linden Cemetery. He never failed to contribute to various children's funds or the causes that were supported by the Veteran's of Foreign Wars.
In October, he suffered a stroke. After medical treatment, he entered a rest home in Linden, where he was taking physical therapy. After feeling better, he went home. Hw would always say in leaving a friend... "SEE YOU THEN". WE LOVE YOU JOHNNY, SEE YOU THEN!
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28 at Linden Cemetery.
