Felix Kernan (aka Felix Kiernan or Phelix Kiernan) was born in 1796 probably in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland the son of Patrick Kiernan (?-1835) and Bridget Wire (?-1843). On the 31 Jul 1825, he married Martha Rose Sheridan (1796-?) in the Catholic Parish of Clonmellon in County Meath (or Westmeath), Ireland. Felix and Martha had eight children together between 1826 and 1844, which were named Matthew, Bridget, Mary, Marie Anne, Owen, Rose, Catherine, and Felix. Between the birth of their second child in about 1830 and the birth of their third child in 1832, they immigrated to Canada, settling first in Nicolet, Quebec, Canada and then Sainte-Monique, Quebec, Canada by 1851. At some point between 1855 and 1857, they immigrated to the United States, settling in Minnesota, first Sibley County and then Ramsey County. Whether in Canada or the United States, moreover, Felix was employed as a farmer. At some point between 1860 and 1865, his wife, Martha Rose, died. Felix died on the 21 December 1882 in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota.
