Farrell N. Bolick, 75, of Hickory passed away peacefully Sunday, March 25th at Frye Regional Medical Center.

Born August 19, 1942 in Hickory, he was the son of the late Clyde Owen Bolick and Pauline Baker Lutz.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters: Harlean Bolick Lee and Wanda Bolick Booth and a beloved brother-in-law, Bob Lee all formerly of Torrance, CA.

Farrell was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Germany and Turkey during the Cold War era. He was very proud of his service to our country and considered it one of the highlights of his life. He grew up in Hickory, NC and Los Angeles, CA and was a true road-warrior. It is not unreasonable to believe he could hold the unofficial record for coast-to-coast trips across our beautiful country. You are unlikely to find a mile of highway in the U.S. that he has not traveled. He and his wife also lived in Torrance, CA; Reno, NV and Charleston, IL before retiring in Hickory, NC.

Farrell reinvented his career from being a locally well-known and respected auto mechanic who loved fast cars to a long and successful career with Meredith/Burda and RR Donnelley & Sons where he held various management positions. His leadership style was creative and people-oriented equaling positive results. Many of his dearest friends come from his time spent in the printing industry.

After retirement Farrell pursued many new hobbies. In addition to his life-long passion for photography, sports and travel, he developed an interest in genealogy. As a member of FindAGrave.com he assisted people around the world in researching, finding and photographing the final resting place of their loved ones and ancestors.

The people that knew Farrell best would say he was devoted to his family and they "always" came first.

A memorial service will be held at Corinth Reformed Church in Hickory, NC on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Thompson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens at Corinth Reformed Church. A reception in Althouse room will follow the burial.
