She was the daughter of Paul J. and Anna M. (Boeckman) Froning. On Nov 4, 1950, she married James W. Gast, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons: Dr. Thomas, Bloomington, IN, Joseph, Seattle, WA, and Daniel (Beck) Gast, Celina; two daughters: Susan (Paul) Wirtz, Worthington, and Paula (Rocket) Rengers, St. Henry; four in-laws: Geri Gast, Joan (Mark) Wenning and Jean (Jack) Bergman, all St. Henry, and John Gast, Ft. Meyers, FL; and eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A member of St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry, the Daughters of Isabella, and the Altar Rosary Sodality, she formerly worked in Inventory Control for the former New Idea plant, Coldwater. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling, playing golf and tennis. She loved playing cards, the piano, which she did for both ladies groups at church, and was an avid reader. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, and that she always had a good joke to share.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry. Burial will follow in St. Henry Cemetery.
