NORFOLK - Lila June Esleeck, 83, passed away on Sat., April 7, 2007 in a local hospital with her family by her side. She had retired from the Norfolk Public Schools as a math teacher at Norview Middle School. A native of Norfolk she was the daughter of the late Pauline Hitchings Esleeck and Samuel Francis Esleeck. Junie was a graduate of the College of William and Mary and received her Master's Degree from the University of Virginia. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. She was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent where she served on the Altar Guild. Left to cherish her memory are a brother, Samuel Horton Esleeck of Cary, NC; two nieces, Robin McMahan of Chesapeake and Janice Hyde of Romulus, NY; four nephews, Al Cadaret of Waynesboro, VA, Samuel Esleeck of Virginia Beach, Hugh Esleeck of Cary, NC, and Lynn Reed Dorraugh; and several grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ida Cadaret and Pauline Greenfield and a brother, Greenville Esleeck. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wed., April 11, 2007 in the Episcopal Church of the Advent by the Rev. Fr. Robert Gillman and the Rev. Fr. Michael Cadaret. Interment will take place on the Church grounds. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Advent, 9629 Norfolk Ave., Norfolk, VA 23503.
