Verna Jeanne Freston Durfee, 65, returned to her Savior on Friday, March 16, 2001 from complications of lupus at University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. She resided at 3193 South Hillsdale Drive (2760 West) in the Granger area of West Valley City, Utah at the time of her death.
Born March 22, 1935 in Roosevelt, UT, daughter of Jesse Vernal and Dora Lucretia Jenkins Freston.
Married Coy Lee Durfee on August 18, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Our Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Friend, is loved very much by her family and friends.
She will be sorely missed. Being with her family was most important. She was a true humanitarian and thrived on doing things for others. She loved all and is loved by all. We will miss her, but know that she is in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
Her beloved son, Keith Lee Durfee, preceded her in death only one month prior to her death on February 9, 2001. She was also preceded in death by another son, Ralph Lee Durfee, on July 25, 1954.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at 12:00 p.m. in the Granger Sixth Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 3274 South Hillsdale Drive (2760 West) in West Valley City. A viewing was held at the Church on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11:00 until 11:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Verna was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at Valley View Memorial Park in West Valley City.
