Plain City Woman Crossed Plains On Foot With Her Family
Plain City, Sept. 6 Mrs. Ellen England, 81, wife of Thomas England, pioneer merchant of this section, died Sunday at her home of infirmities incident to old age.
A native of Chard, Englad, she was born July 19, 1856, a daughter of George S. and Louisa Hancock Hayball, and came to the United States in 1868 with her parents, converts to the LDS Church.
Crossed Plains
After crossing the plains on foot, the family settled in Salt Lake City, later moving to Logan where she was married to William Watson in March, 1875. He died in 1883, and on August 26 1885, she was married to Thomas England in the Logan LDS Temple. The Englands moved to Plain City at that time, and have resided here since. They have been in business here for 37 years.
Besides her husband she is survived by a son and daughter from her first marriage, William Watson and Mrs. Ella Weatherston of Logan, and the following sons and daughters by her second marriage; Wilford T, Lester, and Merlin England and Mrs. Hazel Kennedy of Plain City, and a stepson, George W England, Arimo, Idaho. A sister and brother survive. They are Mrs. Lulu Lawson and H D Hayball of Logan.
Funeral Wedesday
Services will be held Wednesday at two p.m. in the Plain City LDS Chaple with Bishop Charles L Heslop conducting. Friends may call at the family home in Plain City Tuesday afternoon and evening, and Wednesday until the hour of services. Internment will be in the Plain City Cemetery under the direction of Lindquist and Sons.
