Timber Man’s Services Set
Funeral services for William G. Ballantyne, who died Saturday, are scheduled for Wednesday at 11:30 A. M. in the chapel of Holman & Lutz Colonial mortuary. Rev. Lansing E. Kempton of Trinity Episcopal church will officiate. Mount Hood lodge of the A. F. and A. M. also will participate. Interment will be in Riverview Abbey mausoleum.
Mr. Ballantyne was a member of a family prominent in the northwest’s lumber industry. Born in Charleston, S. C., he came west and settled in Tacoma in 1905. For some years he was associated with his brother, Thomas, a Tacoma mill owner. Later his work took him to various plants in the Puget sound and Grays Harbor areas. For a time he engaged in lumber buying and wholesaling.
Here Since 1927
A resident of Oregon since 1927, he was well known to Portland and Willamette valley lumbermen. At the time of his death he was vice-president of the Globe Lumber company, near Eugene. He was a member of William P. Doherty lodge, A. F. and A. M., of Tacoma.
Survivors are the widow, the former Marguerite Pierce of Tacoma; two daughters, Mrs. Laurence E. Harlan and Mrs. Lloyd P. Love Jr. of Portland; two sons, William G. Jr. of Portland and PFC Robert P. of the army; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. R. L. Reynolds of Tacoma and Mrs. Helen Fagg of Mendocino, Cal., and two brothers, Lyman H. of Oakland, Cal., and W. W. of Los Angeles.
