Abram was a postmaster in West Aurora (Cochran), he was married and lived in West Aurora also. He served his country in the Civil War, and was in numerous battles. Abram was the son of John, and Ada Hitchcock Shutts. He married Amanda Barker on September 18, 1869. Abram died in West Aurora of arteriosclerosis.
