Ruth L. Nelson, 99, of Belvidere, passed away on March 19, 2018 in Rockford surrounded by family.

She was born on November 22, 1918 in Rutland Township, IL to Anton and Eva Adamson. She was a loving wife, mother, and grand grandmother who made hand sewn quilts for everyone in her family. She was a great cook and was famous for her sugar and date cookies. She was an active member of Marengo and Pamona GRANGE and was a founding member of Covenant Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday school and was an AWANA leader.

She is survived by her children, David (Beth) Nelson, Elmer (Beth) Nelson; daughter in-law, Donna Nelson; a brother, John (Alice) Adamson; 8 grand children, 21 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer W. Nelson; a son John Nelson; daughter, Donna Willis; a son in-law, Donald Willis; 4 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the McHenry County Memorial Park Chapel, Woodstock. Visitation will be on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jouney Care Hospice.
