MILLER, Theodora BURLINGTON, NC - Mrs. Theodora Teddy Heinsohn Miller, 84, a native of Charleston, SC and Brunswick, GA, died in Burlington, NC Monday June 4, 2007. She was the daughter of Frank Heinsohn and Lottie Addie Rosalee Mappus Heinsohn of Folly Beach, SC, both deceased. She earned her AB in English, Latin and Math from the College of Charleston where she was first honor graduate. She earned her Masters degree in Classics from the University of Georgia in 1984. Her early teaching career included Ashley, Hall, Porter Military Academy and James Simons in Charleston, SC. She taught Latin in Cullman, AL where her husband, the late Rev. Jack H. Warner Jr., was pastor at Christ Lutheran Church. After moving to Brunswick, GA in 1968, she served as executive director of the YWCA and was a pioneer in desegregating the city pool. Later she taught Latin at Frederica Academy on St Simons Island, GA, retiring in 1989. She attended St. James Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church in Brunswick and was active in her church and civic organization wherever she lived. After retiring, she was asked by the Salzburger Society to translate a 1747 book in the Emory University Library written in Latin. It detailed the colonial settlement of German Lutherans who sought religious freedom in Oglethorpe's Georgia colony. Her translation of the book About the excellence of the Georgian English Colony in comparison with other colonies, is slated for publication in 2008 by University Press of America. Teddy moved to Twin Lakes Community in Burlington, NC in 2003 to be nearer her daughter, Ruth Morgan. Survivors include four daughters, Ruth Morgan and husband Sam of Mebane, NC, Charlotte Clarkson, and husband, Steve, of Birmingham, AL, Kathryn Foster and husband, Bill of Miami, FL, and Mildred Warner and husband Jim Pratt of Groton, NY; one son, G. Ray Warner and wife Jilian Mincer, of Port Washington, NY: one sister Frances Lyons and husband Bill of Mt Pleasant, SC and one brother Dr. Frank Heinsohn Jr. and wife Peggy of Folly Beach, SC: and 11 grandchildren, Michael Clarkson, Matthew Clarkson, Will Foster, Jonathan, Foster, Morgan Sharp, Daniel Sharp, Jamie Warner, Brett Warner, Kyle Warner, Charles Pratt and Eleanor Pratt.
