Records found using multiple surnames: Childs, Chiders, Childers, Chillders, Childres, Childress, and MacChilderes. Also multiple given names: Hiram, Hiriam, Hienne, Hirom, Hyram, etc.

Believed to be the third child of Samuel Childers from Virginia who moved to Warren County about 1807 with his first wife (name unknown) and two older children (Sarah and Elisha, who were born in NC), and owned a farm between Richardsville and Greencastle in Warren County. Samuel also had sons named Henry and Samuel, and possibly a daughter named Rebecca, in Kentucky before his first wife died. Henry and Hiram MAY have been twins born in 1809.

Samuel Childers next married Susan Burris on 1 Nov 1824. They had four girls (Lucinda, Nancy, Martha, and Mary) and a son (Uriah) who would be Hiram's half brother.

Hiram Childers married first Nancy Taylor on 12 Jan 1831 in Edmonson County, Kentucky. They had ten children:

Martha A. (Childers) Young (1831-1892)
Mary (Childers) Franklin/Wilson (1834-after 1880)
Rachel P. (Childers) Amos (1836-after 1900)
America J. Childers (1840-1854)
Nancy M. (Childers) Amos (1842-1915)
Frances Lloyd (Childers) Jones/Gentry (1844-1933)
Lucinda (Lucy) Childers (1846-after 1910)
William Washington Childers (1847-1922)
Melvina Childers (1850-before 1860)
Samuel Lewis Childers (1852-after 1880)

Taylor is last seen with Hiram on the 1860 Census. No later record of her has been found.

It has been claimed online that Nancy's parents were Samuel Taylor (1824-18xx) and Martha Lainge (1826-1855), but that would make them younger than Nancy (born in 1811), so they were definitely NOT Nancy's parents.

Hiram Childers married second Catherine "Kate" Meadows on 12 Jan 1864 "at the home of his half brother, Uriah," in Warren County, Kentucky. They had six children:

Rosa Belle (Childers) Massey (1866-1951)
Josephine (Childers) Raymer (1869-1939)
Albert Seymour Childers (1870-1930)
Julia D. (Childress) Basham (1873-1929)
Eulalia Childers (1875-1898)
Luther Hiram Childers (1881-1972)
