A 90-year-old Arizona man died Monday in a single-vehicle crash on Huerfano County Road 103, approximately 9 miles north of Walsenburg, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
A 2009 Honda Civic driven by George Whiting of Mesa, Ariz., was traveling east on Huerfano County Road 103, when the vehicle began to rotate counterclockwise. The Honda went off the left side of the road with the front end hitting the ground.
After impact, the Honda continued east and rolled one time. The Honda continued east, on its wheels, coming to a controlled stop in an open field facing northeast, according to CSP trooper Art Gumke.
Whiting was restrained at the time of the crash. The driver then exited the vehicle and was found deceased outside of the vehicle.
At this time, alcohol and drug use are not suspected as contributing factors. After initial investigation, the crash may have occurred Monday in the early morning hours, but was not discovered until approximately 5 p.m., CSP said. The crash remains under
