Daniel Kendon Anderson returned to his heavenly home on April 6, 2007. He was born in Ogden, Utah and grew up in Hereford, Texas where he learned to work hard on the farm. He served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States Mission from 1969 to 1971, where he first met his future wife, Darla Jean McBride. They were married in Provo, Utah in 1972. He attended Brigham Young University in Provo and studied to become a pharmacist at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. For nearly 20 years he has been a friend to residents and staff at Friendship Retirement Community as the Director of Pharmacy. He has served in many positions of priesthood leadership in the LDS church and has been an active member of the Roanoke First Ward since his arrival in Roanoke in 1985. He would like it to be known that he has a deep and abiding faith in the existence of God, that He has a plan for our lives, and that as we work, play, live, and worship together, the interactions we experience and the events of our lives are all given to us by God along with the freedom of choosing what we will do. His faith is that in Jesus Christ he may be forgiven of his mistakes and be received again in the presence of the Father without spot or blemish. Daniel is preceded in death by his mother, Karma Larsen Anderson and his son, Seth Daniel Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Darla Jean McBride Anderson; his father, Kendon Otto Anderson of Salem, Utah; and his daughters and sons-in-law, Tamigene and Johnathan Conklin of Herndon, Va., Karma and Freddie Tucker of Covington, Va., and Ginny and Kevin Ferguson of Roanoke, Va. He has eight grandchildren, Zachary, Joseph, and Emma Conklin, Kiersten, Kyle, and Keith Tucker, and Kaylee and Peter Ferguson. He is also survived by his seven brothers and sisters and their spouses, his wife's six brothers and sisters and their spouses; 77 nieces and nephews; and 50 great-nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing on Sunday, April 8, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's South, and the funeral will be Monday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Roanoke Second Ward Building, 5836 Cotton Hill Road, Roanoke, Va. with President Phil Willmont officiating. Interment will follow in the Ferguson family cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Family Action Council International, 4907 Queensbury Circle, Fredricksburg, Virginia 24408.
