Jean Mathes, 67, Corydon, died at 5:25 am Friday, April 27, at Harrison Health and Rehabilitation Center in Corydon. Born Sept 4, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Mary McFall Dailey. She was a retired payroll clerk at Keller Manufacturing Co, and the owner and operator of the old Old Capitol Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Mathes; a brother, Howard Dailey, and a sister, Joann Dailey. Survivors include her husband, John E Mathes; a daughter, Missi Wiseman of Corydon; three sons, Marty, Pat and Charles Mathes, all of Corydon; a brother, William Carl Dailey of Davenport, Iowa; two sisters, Virginia Simcox of Corydon and Claire Shickles of Mauckport; 19 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The funeral was Monday, April 30, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The Rev Gary Cooper officiated. Pallbearers were Jeremy Mathes, Ricky Wiseman, Adam Mathes, Johnny Mathes, Scott Simcox and Lewis Fravel. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Breeden and Orville Robbins. The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society.
