Matthew passed away early Tuesday morning, March 13, 2018, in Ft. Worth due to a car accident.

He was born September 12, 1983, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Donny Lee Bateman and Donna Butler Bateman. He was raised in Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School in 2003. He later attended Ogle School of Hair, Skin & Nails in Dallas. Matthew was formerly employed by Uno Pizzeria & Grill in Ft. Worth for three years, Esoterica Salon in Ft. Worth for two years and was currently working at Fantastic Sam’s Cut & Color in Lake Worth for the past year. He lived in Wills Point prior to moving to Ft. Worth five years ago. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to the horse races, watching football, listening to music, fishing, cooking and eating. Matthew was a member of Elwood Baptist Church north of Wills Point.

Preceded in death by his mother, Donna Bateman; four uncles, Martin Butler, Floyd Butler, Billy Don Morrison and Anthony Bateman and aunt, Wynelle Mitchell.

Matthew is survived by his father, Donny Bateman, of Lively; daughter, Elizabeth Horton, of Kemp; brother, Vince Bateman, of Canton; sister, Melinda Roden Johnson & husband, D.J., of Edgewood; five aunts, Pat Bateman, Ruby Clower, Darlene Morrison, Kelly Butler Mims and Paula Butler and an uncle, Herman Bateman.
