US Congressman. Elected as a Republican to represent Ohio's 9th District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1873 to 1875. After graduating from Jefferson College in Washington County, Pennsylvania, he attended the Cincinnati Law School. He earned a degree in 1851, was admitted to the bar in Ohio, and practiced as an attorney in London, Ohio. He also became the prosecuting attorney of Union County and was a member of the Ohio Legislature. He was elected to Congress in 1872, and was defeated for reelection in 1874.
